Dr. Jon Ashby is a highly trained, experienced audiologist. He is a licensed professional in the State of Texas and Holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. He consistently maintains more than the required number of continuing education hours to keep on top of the latest developments. He conducts all audiology services personally, including the fitting and dispensing of hearing instruments.
Dr. Jon Ashby has been a University professor at UNT, HSU and ACU. For the past 8 years he has been a visiting professor at Hardin Simmons University. He teaches a variety of courses in acoustics, neurological disorders, hearing rehabilitation and Speech-Language Pathology.
He has also been in private practice for over 36 years, here at the Abilene Speech and Hearing Center for 23 years. He formerly was a practicing audiologist at the West Texas Rehabilitation Center and also the Abilene State School.
Dr. Ashby is also co-director of the Voice Institute of West Texas. Along with Austin King, M.D. and Michael Scarbrough, Ph.D. he provides the clinical assessment of swallowing and voice disorders.
Dr. Ashby has completed post-doctoral training in hearing sciences and gerontology at Baylor, University of Denver, University of Maryland and Columbia University. He has authored or co-authored many professional journal and research articles and chapters in books. He frequently presents research and clinical instruction at professional conventions and scientific conferences both in Texas and Internationally.

Honors:
Dr. Jon Ashby was elected to the Texas Hall of Fame for his years of exemplary clinical service and international humanitarian work by the Texas Speech and Hearing Foundation in 1998. In his honor an annual scholarship is presented in his name to a deserving graduate student each year at the Texas Speech- Language and Hearing Association Convention.
